Captain David Clark chose to become a fishing guide as a semi-retirement plan after earning his captain's license. After years in the corporate world and facing burnout, he shifted his focus to sharing his passion for fishing with others. What began as a major life change quickly turned into a meaningful new chapter, helping guests connect with Tampa Bay’s waters in a hands-on, memorable way. Every day brings a new adventure, and he cherishes the moments when clients land their very first fish.
The early days of Florida Professional Charters were shaped by determination and personal connection. During the pandemic, Captain David started Ubering around Tampa while distributing business cards to introduce his new venture to the community. Those early efforts laid the foundation for the company, creating a reputation built on trust, reliability, and genuine care. Each new guest experience reinforced why he left the corporate world to pursue guiding full time.
Captain David finds the most fulfillment in guiding guests to success on the water. Tampa Bay’s diverse fishery—with both inshore and offshore species, clean waters, and a thriving ecosystem—offers unmatched opportunities. He focuses on teaching fishing techniques, explaining species behavior, and fostering a positive, friendly atmosphere on every trip. Guests often ask about the best times to fish or the species they can expect to catch, and he takes pride in sharing his expertise while creating unforgettable moments.
The Boat
Trips take place aboard a restored 22’ Nautic Star center console, equipped with a 225 HP supercharged Mercury Verado engine. The boat features Garmin GPS, side-scan and ClearVu fishfinding technology, a wireless trolling motor with spot lock, a livewell, and an ice-box, providing a smooth and efficient fishing experience. With room for up to four guests, it’s ideal for small groups. Anglers target Snook, Tarpon, Shark, Gag Grouper, Mangrove Snapper, Flounder, and Sheepshead using light and heavy tackle. Kids eight and up are welcome, and all gear, live bait, drinks, and catch cleaning are provided—guests just bring snacks and enjoy a day fishing Tampa Bay with confidence.
